India climb to No.2 spot in the latest ICC T20 rankings

India might failed to qualify for the semis but four wins out of five matches have pushed the Dhoni-led side up by one place to the second spot in the latest T20 International team rankings, released on Wednesday. India now trail Sri Lanka (129) by nine points and are followed by Pakistan (118) and England (118). South Africa has lost its number-1 position in the championship table after failing to qualify for the semi-finals.

ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2012 - Fixtures & Schedule

The ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2012 schedule has been announced. Here is the full schedule of ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2012 with full fixtures and time table. The tournament will be organized by Sri Lanka in Sep-Oct 2012. Twenty20 World Cup 2012 is scheduled to start on September 18, 2012.

The tournament will consist of 27 matches which will be played among 12 teams. Six teams with non-permanent ODI status - Canada, Kenya, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland & Afghanistan - will have to go through a qualifier round which is to be played in UAE to be qualified for the T20 World Cup.

The teams are divided in four groups :-

Group A :  India, England, Qualifier 2

Group B :  Australia, West Indies, Qualifier 1

Group C : Sri Lanka, South Africa, Zimbabwe

Group D : Pakistan, New Zealand, Bangladesh

Pak Cricket full of politics

Former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood, who is now a British citizen, feels that it's "more about politics" in the country's cricket system rather than people thinking about the benefit of the game. "It's more about politics rather than administrators thinking about game's benefit. There is no consistent selection policy and there will be chopping and changing of players now and then. "I can still play for Pakistan and I am available though I had taken British citizenship. I played Pakistan domestic cricket till last year and they didn't want me.

Starc takes 5 for 42

Mitchell Starc took five wickets and James Pattinson three as Australia bowled out Pakistan for 198 on Tuesday in the first of three one-day internationals in the United Arab Emirates. Pakistan made a bad start at Sharjah cricket stadium after winning the toss, slumping for 40 for 3 by the 10th over. Two half century partnerships followed before Pakistan lost its last six wickets for 38 runs. Starc finished with figures of 5-42 from 10 overs, while Pattinson claimed 3-19 in 9.1 overs.
